Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Liptar

March 25, 2010

On March 19, 2010 I purchased four Lip Tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics in the following colors:

1. Complex (New) – “Super pale, greyed beige/violet”
2. Hoochie (New) – “Lush, vibrant magenta” (Love it!)
3. Demure (New) – “Intense, purple fuschia” (Love it!)
4. Safety Orange – “Vivid, vibrant, juicy orange” (Love it!)

I meant to grab Vapid (pale, bubblegum lavender), which is also a new color, but I totally missed adding it to my cart.

Description (source):
A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a featherweight, long-wearing satin finish.

Price: $12.50

Application:  You only need very little.  Use a lip brush with this.  It glides on really smooth, and the colors are really pigmented.

Consistency: It’s really light.  I have it on now as I’m typing this, and I don’t feel heaviness or stickiness.  Reminds me of a lipstick.  It’s a little watery coming out of the tube so be careful not to squeeze it too hard.

Demure & Safety Orange stain your lips a little, but that’s not a major deal.

I want to pick up a few more like Tarred, Pageant etc.  they have some pretty cool colors.  I also want to try their pigments.  I heard some good things about them.

Now for the swatches:

Have any of you tried OCC Lip Tars? If so, how’d you like them?  I look forward to your feedback.

New Nail polish Swatches!!! China Glaze – For Audrey & OPI’s – Jade is the New Black!

March 5, 2010

I purchased these two nail polishes on-line earlier this week, and they finally arrived today!  I am so happy.  I’ve been wanting China Glaze’s ‘For Audrey’ which is a beautiful Tiffany blue! And OPI’s ‘Jade is the New Black’ which is, in my opinion a nice green with a hint of turquoise.
I LOVE them both!

I decided to post swatches of the colors since I haven’t seen any of these swatched on brown girls like myself.  I plan on polishing my nails China Glaze’s ‘For Audrey’ later tonight.

MAC Spring Colour Forecast Collection Mini Haul

February 7, 2010

I went to the MAC store today to purchase a few items from the Spring Colour Collection.  I just bought two Blush Ombre’s (Vintage Grape, and Ripe Peach), and two lipglasses (Gold Dust & Kumquat).  The rest of the stuff was just okay in my opinion after seeing them in-person.

Below are some pictures of them.  I also did a mini review on youtube (click here to see).

(L: Ripe Peach, R: Vintage Grape)
(L:Gold Dust, R: Kumquat)

This is a bonus.  I was looking for a nice pink lipstick.  I got ‘Girl About Town’  I LOVE it! Especially with ‘Pink Poodle’ Lipglass on-top!

Beauty Haul – Lash galore, eyeshadow primers, foundation

January 28, 2010

In my previous post, I mentioned I ordered a few things over the past week since I’m trying to build my kit (if you’re wondering why… click here).

I ordered 20 pairs of eyelashes from NYX cosmetics since they had their $1 sale.  I should have ordered more though .:sad face:.  I also ordered Urban Decay’s Original Sin Primer Potion Duo from Ulta Cosmetics (I had a 20% off coupon for it).  Both my lashes and the Urban Decay Primer came today.  I was EXCITED!!! I LOVE getting packages.  This week, I also received my Graftobian HD Creme Foundation Palette from Camera Ready Cosmetics.

If you didn’t order anything while NYX was having their sale, you definitely missed out!

Urban Decay’s Original Sin Eyeshadow Primer Potion Duo

Urban Decay’s Original Sin Eyeshadow Primer Potion Duo raves to be “The best in the industry!”  It’s claims are that it will give you more vibrant color, all-day wear, and absolutely NO creasing.
The Original Primer Potion dries invisibly, while the Sin dries to a metallic, champagne color (shown in picture).  I haven’t tried them yet since I received them today, but I’ll definitely do a review on them in the near future.

Graftobian HD Creme Foundation Palette
18 Warm Shades in one palette (comparison chart).  It’s great for MUA’s, especially if you work on people of different ethnic backgrounds and shades.  The packaging is light & convenient.  The palette also has a mirror.  Palettes are refillable.

Taupe is DOPE!

January 23, 2010
This mushroom-esque hue is instantly intriguing.  The reason is simple: this unique and earthy tone is the perfect complement to spring’s biggest trends.  After all, a neutral nail is the perfect partner to the season’s soft clothing colors—mid-blue hues, khaki galore, and even pretty pastels—all of which point to fashion’s warm-weather shift to a more grounded direction.
OPI’s “Over the Taupe”: I bought this sometime last year looking for a nice brownish grey nail polish.  It didn’t suit my tastes.  It looks very “fungal” on me.  For those OPI enthusiasts familiar with signature shades, it is a mistier, less gray  (Very brown in my opinion) variation of last year’s matte-nail, “You Don’t Know Jacques!”
Sephora by OPI’s “Metro Chic” – Dark Smoke with a hint of purple.  This one is my favorite.  This is an ideal nail color for someone who is not quite ready to say goodbye to gothic shades, but is still fearless enough to try cutting-edge color.

I try to get all of my OPI nail polishes from Salon Savings since they always have them for at least half the price.

MAC – Frisky Business Brights

January 17, 2010

Every holiday MAC puts out makeup sets that either features 5 lipglasses/lustreglass, eye shadows, makeup brushes etc for an affordable price.  These sets are great since they allow you to try more than one product out at one time, instead of spending full-price on something you may not really use and/or like.

My sister purchased the Frisky Business Brights set for me. This set features 5 glosses; 2 Lustreglasses & 3 lipglasses.

Left -Right: Silly Girl, Totaly It, Pinkarat(Lustreglass), Wonderstruck (Lustreglass), Beaute
So far, Totaly It, Beaute and Silly Girl are my favorites.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Collection

January 17, 2010

I recently received the 5-piece Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Collection as a gift. I was excited because I’ve wanted this set for a long time. It features five .7g waterproof eye pencils in #0L (Mat Black), 21L (Dark grey), 12L (Blue with Green highlights), 4L (Shimmering Plum), and 23L(Champagne).

My thoughts: Goes on smooth & lasts all day. Doesn’t “run” like MAC’s eye khols. It really is waterproof, which is good to use near the waterline.

Pictured left-right: #0L, #21L, #12L, #4L, and 23L

I would definitely buy them. I would like to get the collectors set, but maybe later since it’s $249. Maybe someone
will get that for me too? :o)

***Unfortunately, this set is not being sold anymore on
